Hi all, hadn't seen anyone making use of the forums so I thought I'd get the ball rolling. January comes along and it's time to make some additions to strengthen the squad. From ONLY the Premier League pick one player that you'd bring into your side that you think would improve the squad. It can be for any position: Goalkeeper, Defence, Midfield or Attack.
For me personally I think our midfield is our weakest point. Not talking about it's strength in it's depth because then it's hands down our striking department. If I could choose one player from the Prem I would bring in Yaya Toure. The man is an absolute monster in the midfield. He can play the defensive game quite well and he adds in with a couple of goals when you let him join the attack. He is also a dead ball specialist, he's got great ball control AND he's fairly quick for his size. So for me Yaya would be my January buy

Hi guys. First of all, I totally agree with Kalu in bringing Yaya Toure. He's a complete midfielder. Excellent passings, Strong body contacts, clean sliding tackles, vital in front of the goal. But let's be frank, Yaya Toure's worth is way out of Liverpool's spendings. He currently worth £26.5 million. I think the weak part of Liverpool are both defence and midfield.
Defence: Sakho is strong in body contacts, like a rock! But, he often made mistakes like quick lost ball possessions, wild passes. : Skrtel's defending is not bad but when he made mistakes, the mistakes often led to goals.
Midfield: Joe Allen really disappoints me over his performance this season.
I think we should buy a defence and a midfield. I'd go for Abou Diaby (27 years old) for a defensive midfielder. Just £2.6 million.

The post wasn't really for realistic buys. Just more to see what people thought we needed. If I were going realistically, I would probably go for Diame as our Holding/Defensive mid player. I think under the tutelage of Rodgers he could become an even more top class player. Very underrated at West Ham.
As for our defence. We really need a settled back four. The best CB pairing for me would be Agger-Sakho. I won't believe the whole "two-lefties-can't-play-together" theory until I see it because Agger and Sakho both look the business.
Joe Allen I think has had one of his better seasons for us. The only problem with Joe Allen, much like Lucas, is that he's not the type of player you'll notice. Joe Allen is a ball winner, and a tidy passer. He switches play by receiving the ball and switching sides without the need for long passes that are easily intercepted. In the Tottenham game Joe Allen dictated how and when Liverpool pressed the ball. He is the metronome of the team on his day, his maintaining of possession is what wins us games. Looked what happened with Villa when Lucas was dropped.
